A house full of life, love, and light.

Transformation Manager Healthcare & Quality | 3-4 days per week | Amsterdam
(approx. 12 months)

The Jewish Hospice Immanuel (JHI) on Amstelveenseweg is a near-home facility where palliative terminal care is provided. The home welcomes residents from all walks of life, regardless of their background. Over the past nearly 20 years, the JHI has grown into a unique place where professional care standards are high and where life according to Jewish tradition is celebrated, even during the most difficult moments for its residents and their family and friends.

The recently renovated hospice now even offers hospice care to residents with mild forms of dementia. The hospice is praised for its connecting role within society.

JHI aims to build a sustainable, future-proof organization within which its high level of quality can continue to coexist with manageable costs. JHI seeks to transform from a person-dependent organization into one with a clear structure, work processes, and responsibilities, without losing the person-centered, committed way of providing care that is part of our identity (Nesjomme). Risks must be identified and mitigated, and work processes must be digitized and simplified, while safeguarding our unique Jewish identity in our daily working methods.

Your role: Transforming, professionalizing , implementing and securing

While our Director, together with the operational team and approximately one hundred indispensable volunteers, focuses on the day-to-day management of the hospice, you – in close collaboration with the Director and the Board – are responsible for the transformation into a future-proof, professional organization. You are the accelerator standing alongside the team, ensuring that improvements are immediately implemented effectively and embraced. The Board remains ultimately responsible; therefore, you report directly to the Board (with the Chairperson as primus inter pares). You are given the functional mandate to build and secure this process.

The Flying Start: Baseline Measurement & Project Plan

After a brief baseline assessment at the start of your assignment, we expect a detailed plan of action from you within 4 weeks, including a project schedule. For the Plan of Action, you will make use of the available frameworks, such as a vision document and a Terms of Reference (TOR).

Deliverables

All result areas and deliverables, including RACI, are defined in the vision document and the TOR. Because the transformation impacts the entire business operation, we expect that by the end of your assignment, all result areas will have been successfully addressed and the milestones achieved.

Some important deliverables are:

  • Structural maximum occupancy of the available 8 rooms;
  • Average length of stay in line with the national average of the VPTZ;
  • Expansion of recording capabilities;
  • Digitization of (and ensuring the safeguarding of) work processes and management information, driven by KPIs;
  • Streamlining financial processes through a planning and control cycle;
  • Clear job description and management of employees and volunteers;
  • Certification of hospice care in accordance with applicable quality frameworks;
  • Clear governance and agreements between the board, management, employees, and volunteers.

We are therefore looking for a 'jack of all trades'.

You have knowledge of and demonstrable expertise in healthcare, particularly in the area of operational and financial processes. You are so strong organizationally that you know how to mobilize the necessary specialist knowledge. You are a team player who does not shy away from making tough decisions, yet with an eye, love, and attention for all those involved who support the hospice. You ensure an open, honest, and transparent culture. You have genuine attention for the people on the work floor.

Our philosophy: Organizing instead of purchasing

There is no external hiring budget for the sub-areas. We believe in the power of our own committed employees and volunteers. You know how to activate the existing qualities within our (volunteer) team and board, and where necessary, you know how to proactively attract unpaid external expertise and embed it sustainably within our organization.

The Foundation & Confidentiality
